ZoomInfo alternatives for small teams: six tools without the enterprise contract
Apollo, Lusha, UpLead, RocketReach, Lead411 and Leadralia compared for small teams, freelancers and agencies: what each costs, who it suits, where it is weak, and when ZoomInfo is still worth the contract.
ZoomInfo is a very good product sold in a way most small teams cannot buy. For a sales organisation with a procurement process, a quote and an annual contract are normal. For a three-person agency or a freelancer, they are a door that does not open.
This article looks at six alternatives you can start using this week: Apollo.io, Lusha, UpLead, RocketReach, Lead411 and Leadralia. Five are, like ZoomInfo, databases of companies and the named people inside them. One, Leadralia, finds every business of a type in an area, live from the map, and is the right pick only when the businesses themselves are your buyers.
We also say plainly when ZoomInfo is still worth the money. A cheaper tool that does not do the job is not an alternative.
Why people look for an alternative
Three things send small teams looking. The missing price: ZoomInfo's pricing page lists Professional, Copilot Advanced and Copilot Enterprise, each with a "contact sales" button. The commitment: paid plans are billed annually, not monthly, with a minimum number of seats. And the unit economics: credits are consumed when you download verified contact records, and a one-person shop rarely uses an allowance built for a team.
ZoomInfo Lite, the permanent free tier, gives 10 credits a month (25 with the Community Edition), no card, no expiry. A fair way to test the data, not a working plan.
The six alternatives at a glance
The matrix covers five products; Lead411 is described in text below, because six columns do not fit on a phone.
| Criterion | Apollo.io | Lusha | UpLead | RocketReach | Leadralia |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Named people with job titles | 240M contacts | 515M+ contacts | 200M+ leads | people and companies | businesses, not people |
| Every business in a map area | database filters | database filters | database filters | database filters | live from the map |
| Mobile and direct-dial numbers | extra credits per number | 117M+ direct dials | inside a credit | from the Pro plan | public business number only |
| Buyer intent data | on paid plans | full only on Scale | Professional plan only | 35,000+ topics | not offered |
| Business email found and verified free | costs credits | costs credits | costs credits | costs lookups | €0.00, from the website |
| Outreach sequences built in | sequences and dialer | Engage, Gmail or Outlook | export to your sequencer | Autopilot sequences | one AI message you approve |
| Free tier with no deadline | 900 credits a year | 40 credits a month | 7 day trial | 5 free lookups | 25 searches a month |
| Usable with no subscription | free plan only | free plan only | plans only | free lookups only | wallet, pay per result |
| CRM integrations | native on Basic and up | Salesforce, HubSpot, Zoho | on paid plans | Salesforce, HubSpot, Zapier | export to Excel or CSV |
| API | all paid plans | Premium and Scale | full on Professional | limited on standard plans | REST API with keys |

| Monthly billing, no annual contract | monthly costs more | monthly or yearly | up to Plus | monthly or yearly | no plan needed |
Prices and features checked in October 2026; check the vendor's site for current details. The vendors publish in US dollars and Leadralia in euro, so the entry prices are not a like-for-like currency comparison.
Note. Four of the five columns answer the question ZoomInfo answers: who is the right person at this company, and how do I reach them. Only the last column answers a different one: which businesses exist in this area at all. Decide which question you are asking before you compare prices.

Apollo.io: the closest like-for-like replacement
Apollo is what most people mean by "ZoomInfo but affordable": a database of 240M contacts and 30M companies with a sequencer, a dialer, a Chrome extension and 200+ integrations around it.
The free plan needs no card: 900 credits per seat a year, 2 sequences per team, 1 mailbox per user, Gmail only. Basic is $49 per user a month billed annually, with 30,000 credits a year, unlimited sequences, native CRM integrations and six intent topics. Professional is $79 with 48,000 credits, workflow automation, AI research and a US dialer. Organization is $119 with 72,000 credits, twelve intent topics and SSO, with a three-seat minimum. Monthly billing exists and costs more; API access comes with every paid plan; unused credits expire with the cycle.
Where it is weak: the credit system takes learning (a verified email up to one credit, a mobile number several), and the feature count makes it heavier than a freelancer needs. Like every database here, it is thin on the local one-person business.
Lusha: the quickest way to a direct dial
Lusha is built for speed: open a LinkedIn profile or a company site, click the extension, get the work email and the mobile. Its site states 515M+ contacts, 29M+ companies and 117M+ direct dials, and claims 98% email accuracy. Sequences are built in through Lusha Engage, sent from your own Gmail or Outlook, free for every user, capped at ten active sequences per user.
The free plan is 40 credits a month, no card, with the extension and CRM integrations (Salesforce, HubSpot, monday CRM and Zoho are named). Starter is $49.90 a month for 400 credits ($449.10 a year for 4,800), Professional $69.90 for 600 ($629.10 a year for 7,200), Premium $399.90 for 3,400 ($3,599.10 a year for 40,800). On monthly plans unused credits accumulate up to twice the plan's limit. Teams above five users go to sales for a Scale plan.
Where it is weak: the API is reserved for Premium and Scale, and full intent data with export is a Scale feature. Lusha is a lookup tool first; for building a market from filters, Apollo or UpLead do that part better.
UpLead: pay for verified contacts by the credit
UpLead sells verified B2B contacts one credit each, from a database its site puts at 200M+ leads, verified as you search. The pitch is accuracy: a 95% guarantee, with credits refunded for addresses that bounce, plus 50+ filters, technographics across 16,000 technologies and a Chrome extension.
Essentials is $99 a month for 170 credits, or $74 a month billed annually for 2,040 a year. Plus is $199 a month for 400 credits ($149 a month annually for 4,800) and adds technographics. Professional is custom, annual only, and adds buyer intent and full API access. Extra credits cost $0.50 to $0.60. The trial is 7 days with 5 credits; there is no permanent free plan.
Where it is weak: outreach is not in the product, so contacts go to your CRM or sequencer, and 170 contacts for $99 is a high per-record price at low volume. It suits a team that prefers fewer, cleaner records over a big allowance.
RocketReach: email and phone lookups at a low entry price
RocketReach is the lightest database here. You search a person or a company and reveal the email and, from the Pro plan, mobile and direct-dial numbers. It has a Chrome extension, Autopilot sequences, intent data with 35,000+ topics, and integrations with Salesforce, HubSpot, Outreach, Bullhorn and Zapier.
Free accounts get 5 lookups, no card. Essentials is $33 a month for 100 lookups and exports, email only, or $399 a year with unlimited lookups (fair use around 10,000 a month) and 1,200 exports. Pro is $75 a month for 250, or $899 a year for 3,600 exports, and adds phone numbers. Ultimate is $142 a month for 1,000, or $1,699 a year for 20,000 exports. Custom team plans start at $6,000 a year.
Where it is weak: monthly plans are metered by lookups and annual plans by exports, and API access on standard plans is described as limited. It fits a solo seller or recruiter who needs a few dozen lookups a month.
Lead411: unlimited-style exports, intent on annual plans
Lead411, the sixth alternative, is a database of verified emails and direct dials with a Chrome extension, CRM integrations (Salesforce, HubSpot and Pipedrive are named) and Bombora intent data. Its site claims 97% verified email addresses and global search, but does not publish a database size on the pages we checked.
The 7 day Pilot Light trial gives 50 exports. Spark is $49 a month for 1,000 exports, or $490 a year for 12,000 with buyer intent included on the annual plan. Ignite starts at $150 a month or $1,500 a year, adds API access and offers intent as an add-on. Blaze is quoted by sales, with unlimited exports. It suits a small team in a US-heavy market that exports a lot and wants intent cheaply. Where it is weak: intent is tied to annual plans, and the data is strongest in North America.
Leadralia: every business in an area, paid per result
Leadralia does not replace ZoomInfo's contact database, and that comes first. It has no named people, no job titles, no LinkedIn data, no intent and no firmographics. If your buyers are VPs at 2,000-person companies, skip to the next section.
What it does instead: you type a kind of business and a place ("physiotherapists in Lyon", "roofers in Manchester") and it sweeps that exact area on the map, live, returning every matching business with name, address, phone, website, rating and reviews, in 195 countries, down to a single street. It then finds the email on each business's own website and verifies it, for free. The built-in AI writes a personal first message from a one-sentence description of your offer; you approve every word, with the exact audience and cost on screen first. Mail goes out from your own Gmail, Outlook or SMTP mailbox, your own domain, or a sending address Leadralia sets up for you, and replies land in an inbox inside the tool.
Prices are published and per result: €0.02 per business found, €0.00 to find and verify its email, €0.05 per email sent (refunded if the send fails), €0.02 to reveal an address for use elsewhere. A business you already have is free in every later search. You top up a wallet from €5, the balance never expires, and every search has a spending limit you set. The free tier is 25 searches and 25 email sends a month, no card; optional plans run from €19 a month. There is a REST API with keys, and a "we do it for you" option: 100 businesses found and emailed in your name after your approval for €15, 500 for €49, 1,200 for €100.
Where it is weak: no CRM integration (export to Excel or CSV), no browser extension, no multi-step sequences, nothing about the people inside a company. Where it wins: completeness and freshness for local and small businesses that sit in no professional database, and a bill that follows results, not the calendar.
When ZoomInfo is still worth it
The alternatives above are cheaper partly because they do less, so be honest here.
ZoomInfo is still the right buy when you sell to mid-size and large companies and need org charts, not just a name; when buying signals and technographics decide which accounts your reps call this week; when data must sync both ways with Salesforce or land in a warehouse; and when you have five or more sellers, so a team-sized allowance is actually used. Its site states 100M+ companies and 500M+ professionals, and at that depth the enterprise tools (ZoomInfo, and in Europe Cognism, also quoted rather than priced and starting at five seats) are hard to match on named-contact coverage. If none of that describes you, the quote pays for capacity you will not use.
Which alternative fits which need
- ZoomInfo's shape at a fraction of the price: Apollo.io, from $49 per user a month on annual billing, with a usable free plan.
- You live in LinkedIn and need a mobile number now: Lusha, 40 free credits a month, sequences included.
- Accuracy over volume: UpLead, verified at export, 95% guarantee, refunds on bounces.
- A handful of lookups a month: RocketReach, $33 a month, 5 free lookups to test.
- Heavy exports and intent on a small budget: Lead411, Spark at $490 a year with intent included.
- Your buyers are the businesses in a place, not named people in large companies: Leadralia, every business in an area, live, with a verified email at €0.00, paid per result.
Note. Many small agencies run two tools: a contact database for the named accounts they chase, and Leadralia for the local market they prospect every week. They overlap less than their feature lists suggest.
Frequently asked questions
Which ZoomInfo alternative is really free?
Apollo.io (900 credits per seat a year), Lusha (40 credits a month), RocketReach (5 lookups) and Leadralia (25 searches and 25 email sends a month) have free tiers with no card. UpLead and Lead411 offer 7 day trials instead. ZoomInfo Lite is also permanently free, at 10 credits a month.
Can any of these give me every business in a city?
The databases filter by industry and location and return the companies they hold, which favours firms with staff on LinkedIn and a web footprint. Leadralia reads the map at the moment of the search, so the one-person bakery that opened last month appears next to the chain. If "every" matters, it is the only tool here built for that question.
Is it safe to switch from ZoomInfo to a cheaper database?
Test before you commit: run the same 50 accounts through two free tiers and count working emails. Then check what you lose. If your team relies on two-way CRM sync, intent alerts and org charts, the cheaper tool may cost more in rep time than it saves in fees.
Bottom line
For most small teams the honest answer is Apollo.io: it does the largest share of what ZoomInfo does, publishes its prices and has a real free plan. Lusha wins when speed to a phone number is the job, UpLead when verified accuracy is, RocketReach when you only need occasional lookups, and Lead411 when you export heavily and want intent cheaply.
Leadralia is here for a different reason. If the businesses themselves are your buyers (the shop, the clinic, the agency, the trade), no contact database gives you the complete, current list of them, and Leadralia does, at €0.02 per business with the email found for free. Run one search without a card and compare the list with what you use now, or read the API docs to get results into your own system.
If you sell into large companies with buying committees, keep ZoomInfo. A cheaper tool that misses the decision maker is the most expensive one of all.
